Strange but thought-provoking film. What do you think of the problems presented here:

* type of school
* other lessons
* students’ relationship (Garth – Stanley)
* Miss Given’s reaction  (the teacher)
* what did she say to Stanley?
* the moral of this story
* was it really „the most important lesson” for these pupils ?

Day of Independence

23 lis

11th November we celebrate this day. Americans celebrate it on 4th July. Its a very special day. It commemorates the year 1918 when Poland gained independence after many years of ‚zniewolenie’ (partition) made by Austria, Prussia, Russia, Germany.
This day is free from work and from school. It started being this day in 1989, but in theory was set up in 1937. Until 2 World War was celebrated only twice. Every city has its special and unique method of celebrating this day. For example Warsaw organizes Marathon races for amatours, in Szczecin is changing of guards under the monument of Piłsudski, etc, etc. Of course our president makes very long and boring speeches in front of Unknown Soldier Grave in Warsaw. TV transmits this speech but who listens to it?
In theory 2 mln people, in practice …. maybe only old people, housewives, pensioners, etc.

Three Texas Surgeons (a joke)

12 lis

Three Texas surgeons were playing golf together and discussing  surgeries they had performed.                        One of them said, „I’m the best surgeon in Texas.  A concert  pianist lost 7 fingers in an accident.   I reattached them, and 8  months later he performed a private concert for the Queen of England.  „One of the others said, „That’s nothing.  A young man lost both  arms and legs in an accident.  I reattached them, and 2 years later  he won a gold medal in field events in the Olympics.”The third surgeon said, „You guys are amateurs. Several  years ago  a cowboy who was high on cocaine and alcohol rode a horse head-on  into a train traveling 80 miles an hour.  All I had left to work  with was the horse’s ass and a cowboy hat.  > >> > Now he’s president of the United States.
